Shamanic Art Therapy

The origins of art therapy are as old as the origins of humanity and Shamanism. Magic is a common core that unites medicine and art.
Illness and healing are understood within the complex natural cycles of the forest, the cosmos and the mythologies rooted in these.
Shaman always diagnosed and cured by chanting, recitations, rhythmic percussion,  dance, power objects, telling stories, making masks, working with visual imagery and local mythologies of illness and healing.

Art therapy and shamanism both create a sacred aesthetic space, working with ritual and symbolism as means to re-connect with healing and creative healing forces. Both have much to do with recovering joy, the pleasure of the senses and the possibility of activating the free expression of the body, soul and spirit.

Therapeutic or healing journeys are danced or painted with deep creative rituals. They follow the natural cycles of life, day and night, winter and summer ... It is a creative process based on spontaneous and natural expression. T
he soul finds its way back home through dialogue and resolution between the images, symbols and gestures that emerge from these unconscious realms. The magical healing is in the unconscious dream world where we can discover and create inner, personal, subjective and constantly changing symbolic processes.
